Man kennt Centerspeaker (zu deutsch Mittenlautsprecher) aus dem Home-HiFi-Bereich von den heute üblichen 5- oder 6-Kanal Surround-Anlagen. Im Auto sind diese Lautsprecher eher selten anzutreffen.<br />
Der Centerspeaker wird meist über einen Signalprozessor (DSP) betrieben, der aus dem Signal der vorderen linken und rechten Lautsprecher eine Art "Mittelding" generiert.<br />
Der Effekt ist, dass die räumliche Darstellung der Musik verbessert wird. Im Auto hat es weiterhin den Vorteil, dass die sogenannte Bühnenabbildung nach vorne verschoben werden kann.<br />
Extrem ausgedrückt heisst das, dass die Musik nicht mehr - wie bei schlechten Anlagen - von hinten kommt, oder - wie bei normalen Anlagen - aus den Türen, sondern so scheint, als spiele die Musik auf der Motorhaube.<br />

Merke: in einem Konzert steht man auch nicht mit dem Rücken zur Bühne!<br />

Den mittleren Lautsprecher in der Mitte des Amaturenbrettes kann man an die zwei vorderen Lautsprecher anschließen. Entweder an der Minus-Leitung des linken und Plus-Leitung des rechten Lautsprecher oder umgekehrt.<br />

Außerdem kann man den Lautsprecher an eine geeignete Freisprecheinrichtung anschließen, welche für die Verwedung eines eigenen Lautsprechers geeignet ist und nicht an ein Radio angeschlossen werden müssen. In der Regel werden solche an einen der Frontlautsprecher angeschlossen, so dass die Stimme einseitig ertönt, was sich durch den Anschluss des Centerspeaker beheben lässt.<br />
